Future of Gameplay

In regards to the future of gameplay, the authors mention the physical challenges of gameplay as “localized to the hand and wrists” This holds true in almost every game except DDR. Even guitar hero and the Wii can be played while sitting in a chair. While the designers may have intended you to stand up and pretend to swing a bat or golf club, I have seen many player who have figured out that a simple flick of the wrist produces the same result. So, my question is: Are gamers intrinsicly lazy, desiring gameplay that allows them to be stationary, or would more physically interactive gameplay be apealling? Are ideas such as the gameplay in “Gamer” and project natal the future of gaming, or doomed?
